Year 1 countdown to Christmas

Year 1 countdown to Christmas

We have been counting down the days to Christmas by opening our class advent calendars. Each day we have been challenged to show grace by reading a message on a star prepared for us by year 6. Each star suggested how we might show kindness to others. The one we shared today was to make our beds each day without being reminded. We hope this proves helpful over the holidays! Our final week of term has been a joyous opportunity to make and create. We finished off our science topic by creating a picture of the ear. We painted our salt dough Christmas decorations and hope they look beautiful on your Christmas trees. We have learnt to make snowflakes by folding and cutting paper and coloured beautiful individual paper chains. Some children decorated stockings, whilst others chose to create little robins by finger painting. Our favourite activity was the sparkly Christmas playdough!

Santa made a visit to our class bringing board games for us to enjoy. We sat down to our Christmas lunch with the rest of the Junior School and the teachers served us today, we pulled our crackers and cheered the kitchen staff saying thank you for our delicious lunch.

In the afternoon we enjoyed our year 1 party.

We would like to thank you for all your support this year. Your children are a delight to teach. We have not set any holiday homework to be done but know you will take the opportunity to visit new places and enjoy following your children’s interests. We look forward to hearing all about your adventures in 2016!

Happy Christmas!
