Year 1 enjoy a trip to Peterley Manor Farm

What a fabulous, fun and fruity week Year 1 have had! The children have been very excited to make fruit kebabs ready to sell at the FOG summer fair on Saturday. We have priced these and spent time in Maths learning to count coins and to find the correct change. Please come along to our fruit kebab stall where you can test our tasty kebabs and observe our skills whether we are taking your order, adding your bill or counting out your change. We hope you enjoy them!

On Thursday we visited Peterley Manor Farm where we learnt about lots of different crops: pumpkins, Christmas trees, currants, raspberries, strawberries, apples and gooseberries to name a few! The children enjoyed tasting very sour gooseberries! We learnt about Farmer Roger’s bee hives and the bees' special job on the farm. We discovered mistletoe growing on a whole row of Farmer Roger’s apple trees! If you want to know how and why this happens, ask your child. We met some fleecy alpacas; who had just had a hair cut! A huge Thank you to Mrs Booth for bringing in ‘Mappy’ and ‘Moppy’ the map turtles to meet us in our reptile science lesson. During this busy week we have been practising our lines for our end of year production. We would ask that you do the same at home, encouraging the children to think about what they are saying and to use good intonation. Thank you for your support in this.
