Year 1 have fun on a 'bear hunt'

Having now completed a full week in their new classes we are very pleased with the way in which the children have settled in; showing a great willingness to make new friends, remember new routines and to tackle new work. Well done Year 1!
This week we had a really fun time going on a ‘bear hunt’ when we were lucky enough to find Teddy on the field! When we returned to the classroom after some great detective work, our English focused on recount writing featuring time conjunctions and using the past tense.
In Maths the focus has been on number bonds up to 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10. Lots of practical work has been undertaken using dominoes, pegs and cubes to find the number pairs. Matching number sentences have also been written.
Thursday was a beautifully sunny day and in Forest School the children went searching for minibeasts armed with magnifying glasses and bug boxes. Snails, worms and spiders were collected! (Set free of course before we returned to the classroom.)
Next week is our trip to Bracknell Discovery Centre on Tuesday and we know this will be a fun and informative visit.
