Year 1 get excited about an alien invasion
11th November 2016
The week started rather excitingly with an Alien Invasion on our school field. As you might imagine the children had great fun investigating this mysterious occurrence. This activity led beautifully into our focus in English which was engaging with text and expressing ideas through the story of Beegu by Alexis Deacon. Our work in Maths has been learning and using our number bonds to help us solve subtractions.
In topic the children had to imagine themselves as real explorers; they then worked within their team to navigate themselves around the school in order to find their own ‘explorer packet.’ All teams did this with great enthusiasm and returned to the classroom with their ‘find’ where they then had to work out from the enclosed description which explorer they had ‘discovered.’
We would be very grateful if you would continue to practise Christmas play lines with your child. We do not have many rehearsals before the 9th December and learnt words make such a difference to the flow of our rehearsals. Thank you.
