Year 1 - Goal setting and overcoming obstacles
12th February 2021
This week has been full of Dreams and Goals. Usually in school we have weekly Learning for Life lessons ( LFL). For English we decided to incorporate the content of these lessons as a way to check on the children’s mental health and encourage them to think of long term goals. The good news is that the children are still thinking big and making their dreams become reality. Our first target was to set a goal and work out the steps we needed to take to fulfil our dreams. Luckily lockdown has not curbed their imagination and they were all ambitious! Goals set have included getting better at handwriting, spelling, learning to ride a horse, improve their crazy golf skills and of course building with Lego! The children thought carefully how they could overcome obstacles and how they would feel having reached their goal. I am delighted to report that the Year 1children are very determined and focused to achieve their outcome!
In Maths the children were investigating greater than and less number problems. We learnt that despite having the same word problems, different answers can still be correct. Not all sums and questions always only have one answer!
We hope you have a peaceful and restful half-term.
