Year 1 enjoy some wonderful stories

Stories have been the focus this week. On Monday we enjoyed “The Runnaway Pancake!” This reminded us of the favourite “The Gingerbread Man.” We enjoyed a chapter from the Bee Keeper’s book “Betsie Valentine and the Honeybees”, in assembly on Wednesday. On “Bee day” (Thursday) we loved dressing up as bees and read “Bee-&-Me” by Alison Jay. In English we have enjoyed the story “A Squash and a Squeeze.” We have ordered the story, rewritten the story and created speech bubbles, thinking of things the animals might have said during the story. Then we reread the story using voices and expression to bring the words of the animals to life. Now we are getting more fluent in our reading we can start to use expression to engage the listener. Today we visited our Take One Picture Display and were very proud of our work. We hope you enjoyed seeing it too. What an amazing week Year 1 have had!
