Year 1 meet the alpacas at Peterley Manor Farm
21st June 2019
Year 1 have had a very busy week this week. The children have been very excited to make fruit kebabs ready to sell at the FOG summer fair on Saturday. To help the children recognise and work with money confidently, we completed a range of money activities. Children were working out the amount of change they would need back when paying for a range of items. We also looked at alternative ways of making different coins. Children were given a coin and had to use their problem solving skills to find three different ways to make the given amount.
The children also had their sports day practice this week. All of the children did very well and are now very excited about participating in the real thing!
On Thursday we visited Peterley Manor Farm where we learnt about lots of different crops; pumpkins, Christmas trees, currants, raspberries, strawberries, apples and gooseberries to name a few! The children enjoyed picking and tasting some delicious strawberries. We also discovered mistletoe growing on a whole row of apple trees! Farmer Pip was very informative and the children enjoyed asking her lots of questions about her farm.
