This half term we have the pleasure of welcoming Miss Emma Morrison into the hustle and bustle of Year 1. She is very much looking forward to working with your children and adding to her teaching experience for her QTS. By the end of her first day, Miss Morrison had already learnt all of the children’s names and had heard many read on a one to one basis as well as during a guided reading session. She is going to be such an asset to life in Year 1 and we look forward to lots of exciting learning experiences.
In class this week, we have been delving into the life of an estate agent! The children worked in pairs to think of key phrases and appropriate adjectives to describe a house and then independently wrote an advert for property of their choice. The children thought of lovely phrases such as ‘suitable for a first time buyer’ and ‘the roof is as red as an apple’. In Maths we have been focussing on word problems and the chilli challenge on Thursday followed this theme. The children were amazing and took control of their own learning and set their own challenges. Due to super progress with their ‘tricky words’ list 4 has been sent home this week to work on at home. Well done everyone. A superb first week back!
