Year 1 settle into their new classes
11th September 2015
This week has been a very exciting one! The children are settling into their busy new routines well and seem to be really enjoying their new classes. In English we have been focusing on using labels to give information to a picture and also captions. To begin with the children used labels to describe a picture of their face and we had lots of fun adding in some adjectives too. Towards the end of the week the children wrote a caption to go with their very own fantasy creature. The children were very thoughtful, in their captions, and all had a go at using a describing word! In Maths this week we have been working on our counting skills and thinking of numbers that are 1 more/1 less than other numbers.
Next week we will be identifying the differences between things that are living and non - living in our Topic lessons.
At home you might like to encourage your child to think about their ‘five senses’ and ask them to identify when, where and how they are using them at home.
