Year 1 take a trip to the local Barnardo's shop

What a great way to end our topic on recycling! We loved our visit to the charity shop and Ben the volunteer was delighted to receive our donations. We learnt that the charity shop sell our items so that they can be reused, they then use the money they make to help children in need all over the world.

In English we have been writing our own Fairy Stories featuring traditional beginnings and endings and telling stories of giants, princesses, wizards and goblins! We used capital letters, wrote in the past tense and used adjectives to make our writing more detailed and interesting.

In Maths our favourite lessons were when we were learning about fractions. We learnt that a fraction is an equal part of a whole and learnt the correct way to write ½ and ¼ but the best part was when we cut our own pancakes into fractions and then ate them!
