Year 1 taste different types of fruits

Year 1 taste different types of fruits

Yet another busy and exciting week in Year 1 beginning with our Celebration Assembly on Tuesday. We hope you enjoyed watching and listening to your very confident children, all of whom we thought performed beautifully. Thank you for helping your child with the words. Our week did not end there and in English we spent time studying the book, Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Browne. The highlight of this was tasting the different fruits; avocado was the least enjoyed although Elodie and Elsa thought it was yummy. Mango was definitely the favourite, juicy and sweet, also described by Lily as being slippery. Some children used a thesaurus to choose more exciting adjectives to describe these fruits, such as bitter and sharp in addition to sour. In Maths we have been looking at making teen numbers using 10p, 5p, 2p and 1p coins. In Topic we have been learning about and describing different houses across the world such as the tree houses the Bagobo tribes used to live in! Science has been fun, we planted cress seeds in a rather special container and we are going to watch and record how our seeds grow and change during the coming week. We of course need to remember that during this busy week it was also Miss Ives’ birthday! Please remember PJs for Monday’s swimming in addition to swimming kit.
