Year 1 - anchors away!
9th November 2018

Year One sailed off on an adventure with explorer Captain Cook, this week. We discovered how good Captain Cook was at making maps. We looked at the world map and plotted his trips across the Pacific Ocean to Australia and New Zealand and wondered what exciting things he may have discovered there. Acting out life on a ship in the 18th century, brought the difficulties to life, we didn’t like the sound of rats eating our food and the fear of falling overboard. We are very glad that we have plenty of fruit nowadays to prevent scurvy.
Next week we shall be learning about the explorer John Speke.
