Year 1 think about what is needed for an expedition
24th November 2017
Lots of work on Explorers this week; in Topic we have been learning about Burke and Wills finding out about their expedition to Australia and have created our own Fact Files about Australia. We thought about kit needed on such an expedition, the weather encountered, the animals seen and some potential dangers.
In English we used adjectives to describe our own intrepid explorers and in so doing made our writing much more detailed and interesting. We worked with our talk partners and had fun using non-fiction books to find more information about different explorers and we then correctly used bullet points to highlight important facts.
In Maths we have been counting on 1,2,3 more than to 20 and beginning to add three small numbers by spotting 10 or doubles.
The children are doing really well with learning their lines but... please keep practising! Thank you for your help with this, we do appreciate it.
