This week in Year 2 we have been learning to tell the time on analogue and digital clocks. We began reading o’clock and half past times, then reading times to the nearest quarter of an hour and next week will are moving on to telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes.
In English we have written our final pages of our information books about India. Over the course of this term the children have researched about tigers, different climate zones in India, recorded a weather report, collected interesting facts and produced a glossary. We are all so very proud of the work they have produced and how they have created their very own information books!
We had such fun during our Forest School lesson on Thursday, we started to construct a ‘Bug Hotel’ for all the insects and bugs that live on our school field. Last week, we collected a large variety of natural materials that we could find on the school field which included: old wood, leaves, thin sticks, bark and small stones. Then we bundled them into layers. Each material will help to protect a different type of bug or insect from the harsh weather and predators. Do ask your child which materials they collected and for which insect they were wanting to help and protect, as well as the reasons why we are constructing a bug hotel.
To support your child’s learning at home this week, you could ask your child to practise reading the time on a variety of clocks that you have around your home at different times in the day.
