Year 2 finish their diaries based on 'Diary of a Wombat'

This has been another busy week for Year 2. The children have been working so hard to finish their diaries based on the story “Diary of a Wombat” by Jackie French. Having selected an Indian animal to be the diarist, the children enjoyed thinking about a possible week the animal might have had. Great ideas were in abundance - “Found a perfect scratching post on a spiky tree” Zalie; “Prowled through the long grass searching for a juicy deer” Jared; “Discovered there are lots of trees in the jungle” Vihaan; “Blended in the long grass to try to catch a wild boar” Alex.

It’s been time, time and time this week in Maths! The children have been telling the time and learning to convert it to digital time. They enjoyed playing games to help reinforce these skills. They also timed themselves to see what they can do in a minute.

In R E, having learnt about some celebrations including Diwali and decorations which are important to festivals we looked at rangoli patterns. We noticed their symmetry and the use of bright colours. The children then used coloured sand to make their own hanging rangoli patterns which are looking very jolly and splendid in the classroom.

We wish you all a lovely, restful half term and look forward to seeing all your air investigations when we come back.
