Year 2 - Focus on India and healthy eating
22nd January 2021
Another week has sped by and once again we have been amazed by the children’s hard work, determination and resilience. We have continued to work on our India topic this week, exploring more about the geography of the country. In Topic, the children have investigated the different continents and oceans of the world, before identifying the bodies of water that surround India. In English, they learnt all about the three main climate zones of India and thought about the different weather conditions throughout the country. As part of this, the children created the second page of their India non-fiction books, all about Indian weather and climate. We were impressed by the high-quality language that was used to explain and describe the weather.
In Maths, we have continued to focus on Multiplication and Division. It has been fantastic to see the children making links between their times tables and division number sentences. They have also started to use bar models to group and share numbers.
Science has seen a continuation of our work on Healthy Living. The children have been given the opportunity to sort food from their kitchen cupboards into different groups and this week we have been discussing the five main food groups (carbohydrates, proteins, fats, dairy, fruit and vegetables) before the children designed their own healthy lunchboxes.
