Year 2 have fun creating tartan designs
11th November 2016
In Year 2 this week we have been finding out lots more about Katie Morag, particularly her feelings and what she gets up to on her adventures on the Isle of Struay. They have also created their own tartan.
We used the weaving skills that we have learnt in Design Technology to weave strips of card to make our own tartan pattern. The children thought carefully about their colour choices for their tartan pattern and ended up with some fantastic finished designs.
In ICT we have been learning to use the App ‘Puppetpals’ to create our own stories. The children have learnt how to take photos and crop them to create their own characters and have begun to move their character around and add speech to tell a story. Next we will be recreating one of the Katie Morag stories using ‘Puppetpals’ by combining scenes imported from the internet with our puppet characters. The children have loved using the App and sharing stories with their friends.
