Year 2 learn interesting facts about India

This week in topic we rounded off our work on India and the children completed their KWL (Know, Want to know, Learnt) sheet and were able to show off all the interesting facts they have absorbed through the Spring term. It really was amazing just how enthusiastic and excited they were reminiscing over their completed work. The children thoroughly enjoyed looking through their topic books and sharing their favourite and most interesting pieces of work with their friends, complementing each other on the neatness and content of the work. They really have loved learning about India!!!

Next term our topic is Seasides past and present. We will be looking at how holidays were in the Victorian times and comparing them with the holidays we have now. We look at transport, entertainment and seaside attractions, accommodation and clothes. Our next science module is Plants and Animals, the children always find this subject particularly exciting as we go on a trip to Mop End, where the children get to catch and identify mini beasts.

We will not be sending reading books home over the Easter Holidays, but we have encouraged all children to still make sure they are reading. They may even like to write a book review of one of their favourite stories to bring in once we come back. We are also not sending spellings home to work on over the holidays. We will however be doing a spelling test on the first Friday back, which will consist of a random selection of words which the children have learnt previously.
