Year 2 look at timelines

Year 2 look at timelines

This Week

In Topic this week the children have been looking at the different modes of transport that people use to travel to holiday destinations and how this has evolved since the Victorian times. The children have been fascinated to learn about the penny farthing bike and the logistics behind starting, stopping and even just getting on the bike in the first place!! As part of this the children have looked at timelines and how using this we can record chronologically changes which have happened over a period of time.

After Half Term

After half term we will be continuing with our Seaside topic, looking at the pier and seaside entertainment. The children really enjoy looking at how things have changed and developed over time. The first Thursday after half term, as part of our new Science topic, we will be going on our trip to Mop End. Please check in your child’s reading record for a note explaining more about the trip.

At Home

As we have been doing planting at school, the children might like to make a bean or seed diary at home over the holidays. They could plant a seed or bean in a clear plastic cup and document the plants growth and development daily on a sheet of paper.

Homework

We will be sending the children home with their play parts and lines to learn for our summer production. It would be great if your children could rehearse their lines over the holidays in preparation for their performance.
