Year 2 reenact a Punch and Judy show
2nd July 2020

Well, it’s been a busy week, but what a week! We were delighted to see the children return on Monday after what felt like years! They have been amazing and coped with all the changes so well. Wiping tables, washing hands, applying antibacterial gel and social distancing is second nature...well almost!
The biggest shock to some of the children was that we have actually been expecting them to work! We imagine they all slept very well on Monday evening as they arrived full of beans on Tuesday. They have been continuing their work about The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch based on the stories by David and Ronda Armitage. We were pleased (relieved) to see they had remembered to use full stops, capital letters and adjectives to make their writing exciting.
In our Topic work we had great fun making and reenacting a Punch and Judy show. We discussed how unkind Punch was to everyone. The good news was that the children invented much nicer stories which they retold to their friends using the traditional characters of Punch, Judy, the Baby, the policeman and not forgetting the crocodile!
Finally, a huge thank you to all of you for the amazing job you did homeschooling. The children have been discussing how they felt, as part of our Learning for Life skills. Whilst the children are pleased to be back at school, they had enjoyed the time at home with their families, going on bike rides, walks and playing together. Some of them even enjoyed the home schooling!
