This week in maths the children have been solving greater than, less than and equal to problems, we decided the < and > arrows could be made to look like crocodiles and have been using a little rhyme to remember which direction they should face, the rhyme is “The mouth munches the most!” Also in maths we have been learning how to round to the nearest 10. We spent time looking at numbers on number lines and also using our knowledge of number bonds to 10 to help us. There was a great discussion about what we should do with a number when it has 5 units…...ask us and see if we can remember which way it should be rounded!!
As next week is the end of the Spring term, we will also be drawing our India Topic to a close. All the children have thoroughly enjoyed this topic. When watching the eclipse footage earlier today, the children were thrilled to hear the traditional Hindu tale about the eclipse and learn the story of Rahu, Vishnu and the Sun.
As we are at the end of our India topic, it might be nice to spend some time discussing with your child what their favourite part of the topic has been and what they feel is the most interesting thing they have learnt. Following on from the discussion your child may like to write down some of their ideas to share with their class teacher.
