Year 2 read books about The Lighthouse Keeper
29th June 2018

This week Year 2 have been studying a range of stories by an author, Ronda Armitage. They have really enjoyed reading The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch, The Lighthouse Keeper’s Catastrophe and The Lighthouse Keeper’s Cat.
We have spent some time comparing the stories by this author to find similarities and differences between the setting, character and plot. The children drew story maps and retold the story to their partner using lots of descriptive language that we had taken from the original. The children enjoyed the fact that the seagulls ate Mr Grinlings lunch and had great fun coming up with their own inventions to prevent the seagulls eating it again. We are all looking forward to writing our own version including our seagull beating invention!
At home you could practise telling the time on a digital and analogue clock as this has been our maths focus this week.
