Year 2 reflect on India topic

This has been a busy week thinking about all the things we have enjoyed learning about India. There was a great range of ideas so we had plenty to get ready so that we could share them all in our celebration assembly last Tuesday afternoon. We hope you enjoyed hearing all about some of the characteristics of this diverse and colourful country. This week we have looked at the art of Mehndi painting, the traditional art of India. In Indian Mehndi, a person applies designs to the hands and feet of women in preparation for celebrations and festivals. The children created their own designs having drawn round their hands.

In Science the children have continued their studies about healthy eating, looking at the different food groups and how much we should be trying to eat of each. We have identified the different sources of proteins, carbohydrates and vegetables on our plates at lunch time and then thought of how we could make a healthy pizza topping.

Thursday afternoon saw Mrs Palmer-Jones’ last Forest afternoon with us and the children had a great time searching for Easter eggs which she had hidden in the forest school area. Thank you very much, Mrs Palmer-Jones and we shall all miss your enthusiasm for this special structure of learning.
