Year 2 taste different tea from India

This week in Year 2 we have been looking at multiplication in Maths and tasting some different teas from India as part of our Topic lessons - some of which were enjoyed more than others! We saw a tea plant and found out that tea is made from the leaves when the have been dried. Toby thought that the Darjeeling looked like syrup and Zalie thought it tasted bitter.

In Maths we have been counting in steps of 2,5 and 10 and linking this to our times tables. We have made arrays with eggs and blocks to match our times table facts and used these to help us answer worded problems. The children also wrote their own worded problems about birds to link with our Take One Picture topic. One example was: There were 3 nests in a tree. A bird laid 5 eggs in each nest. How many eggs were there altogether? We drew pictures to help us understand the problem.

In English we started reading a variety of traditional tales which the children really enjoyed.

At home you may like to share some traditional tales by reading the book or retelling them orally.
