Year 2 think about Guy Fawkes night
3rd November 2017
This week Year 2 have been thinking about Guy Fawkes night in a number of ways. During our RE lesson the children discovered the history behind the celebration they know as Bonfire night and why it is celebrated. They all heard how Guy Fawkes was not working alone and that it was down to a letter sent to the King that the Gunpowder plot was foiled. Some children acted out the argument between the Catholics and the Protestants.
Then in Forest school we let our creativity run wild and the children produced some fantastic Firework inspired collages from natural materials.
We also practiced the fire safety technique of ‘Stop, Drop and Roll’ so we know how to keep ourselves safe whilst we are out celebrating at the weekend.
We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Bonfire night.
