Year 2 visit the ducklings

Year 2 visit the ducklings

Year1chicksThis week in English the children wrote amazing stories about a trip to the seaside. Many extraordinary things happen in them and they are well worth a read especially after they have been presented in a stylish beach hut.

On Thursday we were invited by Mrs. Outten to visit her classroom and see the ducklings that have hatched in the last two days. They are so cute! The children were very calm and quiet so as not to startle the babies. They were able to get a close look as adults took a duckling each and showed them around the group. They were able to stroke them gently and see the egg tooth, webbed feet and tiny feathers. The ducklings were also quite vocal - quacking away. At the end of the session we were all quite sad to have to put the ducklings back (adults too!) Thank you Mrs. Outten for giving us such a treat.

Next week

With our dress rehearsal on Friday afternoon, could all children please bring their costume to school on Wednesday in a named bag. The children are going to have a very busy week preparing for their end of year production and finishing off the last bits of our topics. Nearly there guys!!!

At home

With our play only a week away please could you ensure that your child can confidently say their lines at a good volume. Their voices will need to travel all the way to the back of the hall and some children are still rather shy about using the loud voices which we know they have!

Homework

We are not sending spellings home this week as next Friday we will be doing a general spelling test with the children, covering a variety of the words and sounds that they have been learning this half term.
