Year 3 consider the feelings of The Graham Children

Year 3 has had a busy, enjoyable week with activities inspired by The Graham Children by William Hogarth. In English, the children thought about the feelings of the four children and wrote an imaginary dialogue between them. They then converted the conversation into a play script, using stage directions and scene descriptions. Everyone was fascinated with the interesting heirlooms brought in and the teachers were impressed by the childrens’ knowledge about the history behind the objects and, indeed, their families through their family trees. In Maths, we covered coordinates and the children located the position of various objects in the painting. The children are looking forward to showing off their hard work in the Take One Picture exhibition.

The Children have now received their words for our Easter production of Jason and the Argonauts. It would be appreciated if they could practise these regularly at home as our rehearsal time is limited. Thank you.

Next week we are looking forward to World Book Day and the dress-up day on Friday 3rd March. Hopefully the children will be able to bring in their favourite books illustrated by Axel Scheffler to show and share in class.
