Year 3 consider primary and secondary sources
26th January 2018
We have been learning the difference between primary and secondary sources of evidence in history to help the children to understand how we find out about the past. First, we pieced together a picture of a Greek vase and looked carefully about what the picture could tell us about life in Ancient Greece. Next, we handled replica artefacts and tried to work out what the objects were and how they might have been used. The children were very excited to investigate the items -long jump weights, an oil lamp, theatre masks and a pair of ballots. They asked very interesting questions, persisted in their enquiry, using some extra clues provided. Some even feel that they might want to be an archaeologist one day!
