Year 3 create amazing shadow shapes

Have you ever met a shadow monster? Well over the last week, when the sun has managed to peep through, Year 3 were outside. We found that light travels in a straight line and that our bodies block the path of light. In pairs and threes we were able to make amazing shadow shapes on the ground. In the classroom we also discovered how using a torch and pencil we could move the shadow by moving the source of light. We also learnt three tricky words: opaque, translucent and transparent. We would love to test your knowledge of them; perhaps we could look around the house for examples.
