Year 3 enjoy Caribbean themed Topic day
17th November 2017
On Thursday, Year 3 enjoyed a Caribbean themed Topic day. All the children were very excited as they arrived into school wearing bright colours and big smiles! They immediately got crafting, making beautiful Leis, in the style of those worn in the Caribbean during festivals of celebration.
Continuing to exercise their artistic skills, Year 3 started to produce some stunning Turtle pictures. The children then enjoyed furthering their fairtrade knowledge by mapping different food and drink products to where they came from in the World. This was followed by a delicious themed Caribbean lunch, enjoyed by the whole school.
After a relaxing introduction to our new English focus; Caribbean Tales, the afternoon was a very lively one; Year 3 were particularly excited to participate in a Caribbean music workshop, led by Mr Wallace. After experimenting with different rhythms on a variety of percussion instruments, the children were ready to perform!
The day was rounded off by a spot of Caribbean dancing in the hall. The children have been working hard on learning the fast paced moves and are very much looking forward to showcasing their dance on stage, as part of the Christmas Production!
