Year 3 have fun communicating with hieroglyphs
30th September 2016
This week we have had great fun thinking about different ways of communicating. We looked at the Ancient Egyptians’ use of hieroglyphs to communicate and wrote our names in hieroglyphs. We also looked at communicating using Semaphore and the Morse code. In RE we thought about how signs and symbols help us to remember the past. We looked at the tradition of the Seder Plate at Passover in Judaism and how the different foods tell the story of the exodus from Egypt. The children enjoyed trying some of the foods in our recreation of a Seder supper. The “charoset” was very popular.
Next week we are starting to look at poetry that appeal to the different senses. It would be helpful if, at home, you could point out any unusual sounds, tastes or sights and ask your children what words they could use to describe them.
