Year 3 learn to write instructions

Year 3 learn to write instructions

In English this week the children have been learning about instructions. They have had a chance to give verbal instructions, something that many of them are naturals at! The focus for these lessons was very much getting the children to think about exactly what needs to be said and what doesn't need to be said. The oral rehearsal of words is an extremely important part of the writing process and has helped the children tremendously.

The children were then tasked with writing down their instructions. Then we followed the written instructions to the letter. The children really enjoyed this and it gave them a chance to see how their writing could be edited and improved.

You may be able to see the fruits of the children's labour in their classrooms, as part of this work involved them making 'festive' paper chains. So year 3 now has a lovely festive feel!

As well as working hard in English we have been rehearsing for the Christmas production too. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible next week at the production.
