Year 3 reflect on their learning and experiences of the past year

So, after a very successful first Sports Day off site at Sprinter’s in Prestwood, Year 3 were back to work as usual this week, reflecting on their learning and experiences they have had this year. The children have enjoyed many aspects of Year 3, such as the diversity of clubs, school trips and ‘special days’. They enthusiastically recalled the early days in September when they were taken to Woodrow House for a team building day doing orienteering and rope games. As one of the new members to the year group explained,

‘ This was a really good way to talk to other people who you don’t know as you had to work as a team to do the task.’

Special days are always popular when the children deviate from their usual timetable to spend the day learning and researching a new topic. Dressing up for St Lucia Day was definitely memorable and really brought the subject to life. A trip to Windsor Castle recently also reinforced the children’s learning as well as providing great ideas for story writing and developing their interest in History. A highlight of the day was seeing the shields on the walls and being ‘knighted’ by their teachers. Who knew we had such power?!

Transition day, which happened on Tuesday, is another exciting event which the children took in their stride. Lots of discussions in class beforehand prepared them for a busy day of introductions, team building and adjusting to a new classroom and the delights of being in Year 4. We are delighted to say they rose to the challenge and are now feeling more confident about what Year 4 will have in store. Good luck to them all!
