Year 4 children taste rainforest fruits

Year 4 children taste rainforest fruits

This week we have been preparing for our celebration assembly, which will be held next Tuesday afternoon at Great Missenden Hall. Each class decided on a topic area to present and the children really enjoyed writing their own lines to perform. We are sure you will be impressed with all that Year 4 has learnt about rainforests and habitats this half term.

As part of our topic work, the children will soon be given the opportunity to taste a variety of exotic fruits and we will find out which tropical region they originate from. We would also like the children to think carefully about how they could describe the appearance, taste, smell and texture of these fruits, using super adjectives.

In English this week we have focused on rainforest themed poetry, in preparation for the house poetry competition after half term. The children looked closely at how language was used to create strong imagery. We also enjoyed performing poems, thinking about projecting our voices clearly, keeping a good rhythm, using expression and adding emphasis. Hopefully these are skills we can draw on to help us deliver a great performance in our assembly too! We can’t wait to see you there!
