Year 4 put themselves in the picture

Over the last few weeks, the Year 4 children have been using drama to help them to picture and immerse themselves in imaginary worlds. With the help of Mrs O’ Hare, the children have conjured up magical lands, created interesting characters and developed ideas for unusual mythical beasts. Through freeze framing, they focused on the use of body language and facial expression, to show a character’s feelings as they met a creature from the new world they had entered. Next, the children built up a frozen picture, showing a moment in time, adding characters one at a time to develop the scene further. The children have really enjoyed these drama activities and they will also help them to develop ideas when writing their own stories set in imaginary worlds.
