Year 4 taste fruits from all over the world
8th November 2019

This week, Year 4 were given the opportunity to taste a variety of fruits from all over the world, including some fruits that are found in the rainforest. We began with discovering each fruit’s country of origin and from there, we learned about ‘Food Miles’ and approximately how far each fruit had travelled to reach our supermarkets. Some fruits, like pineapples and mangoes, had travelled almost 7,000 miles!
The fruit tasting was also an opportunity to think carefully about how we could describe the appearance, taste, smell and texture of these fruits. We chose three fruits to begin with and used interesting adjectives to describe their texture and taste. The most exciting part of all was trying all of the delicious fruits on the table! It was an experience that Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed.
