Year 4 visit the 'Rainforest' at Kew
29th September 2017
Today, Year 4 set off to explore Kew Gardens to experience what if feels like to be in a Rainforest. There promises to be a fascinating array of plants in the Palm House to discover. We will be looking closely at the ways leaves are adapted to suit their rainforest habitat and also comparing desert and tropical plants,in the desert and tropical biomes, which will help us with our science habitat work back at school.
The highlight of the day promises to be the treetop walk where we will be able to appreciate just how high the canopy and emergent layers of the rainforest really are!
In school this week we have created some wonderful art work using wax pastels to depict rainforest scenes. We have also been exploring the features of information texts, the teachers are sure that the children will use their fascinating new knowledge gained at Kew to produce some super information texts about rainforest plants!
We hope to have a enjoyable and educational day. Hopefully we will be blessed with a warm and sunny day so we can make the most of the beautiful outside space at Kew.
