Year 5 learn French for school and have a sing-a-long
10th July 2017
Year 5 pupils have been working (and playing) hard this final half-term, learning French language to use at school (A l’école). We started by practising and singing vocabulary for school equipment (‘Dans ma trousse’ = In my pencil case) and then gave opinions about various school subjects... ‘J’adore le français!’. We all enjoyed getting active when responding and miming to all sorts of classroom instructions in French. Finally we learned vocabulary for the different rooms and other places around a school, enjoying a game of ‘Name that noisy room’ by matching sounds or voices with the correct room labels; eg. ‘le bureau, la cuisine’.
We also treated ourselves to a quick review of some of our other favourite French songs from previous years this week. The two most popular requests (by far) were ‘Lundi matin’ (Monday morning) and ‘Les yeux arc-en-ciel’ (Rainbow eyes). You can watch and sing-a-long to them yourself on YouTube!
