Year 5 study life cycles and reproduction
16th June 2017
In Year 5, we end the year studying Life Cycles and Reproduction in both plants and animals. The children have started the journey on a Flowering Plant Life Cycle - beginning with a seed and how it is protected by the ‘fruit’ as it develops. We took a look inside various fruits and sketched the seeds inside. Then we dissected a runner bean seed and marvelled at the tiny embryo and the remainder, which is its food for growing. Next week we take a closer look at flowers and will be encouraging the children to take notice of the different flowers in their gardens as they burst into life! We will take a simple flower apart to understand its role in reproduction. What a great end to the Year!
