Year 6 begin their study of WW1
17th January 2020
Year 6 have begun their study of WW1 in history and to compliment that, we are sharing Michael Morpurgo’s ‘War Horse’. Having met Joey and his owner Albert, war is already looming and life is sure to change drastically for all of the Narracott family. The combination of learning the facts of the conflict in history and learning how ordinary people were affected by it in English should help the children to have a deeper understanding of the war and its repercussions. In drama, Y6 recreated scenes from what had been read in the book so far, in particular exploring the complex character of Albert’s father. If the children would like to bring in any interesting books, photographs or other items from this time, particularly those to do with their own families, we would be most interested to see and display them.
