Year 6 create wonderful textile works based in birds in Orpheus

We are fully in the swing of Take One Picture this week! The Year 6 pupils have been creating wonderful textile works based on the birds from ‘Orpheus’ and another of Savery’s paintings entitled ‘Landscape with Birds’ 1628. They have made drawings and created a template of their chosen bird, rummaged through fabric samples, felt, sequins, feathers and buttons, choosing appropriate materials to build up interesting textures in their work. On speaking to 6AA, Eve said, “I like the fact that you can let your imagination run wild, using all the different materials and then see it all come together.” Megan enjoyed being able to, “do our own thing and finding effects with the different materials.” On making his duck, Jamie commented, “ I want to try and make sure I have all the right parts; I am sewing all the green pieces on the blue in the right positions.” You can see the results of the children’s labour on Friday 12 March on display in the school hall.
