Year 6 enjoy Romeo and Juliet performance
20th May 2014
On Thursday 15th May, Year 6 children had a lovely evening in the beautiful grounds of Pipers Corner School. They were there to watch the Fourways Theatre Group perform Romeo and Juliet. This local amateur dramatic society has an excellent reputation and Shakespeare ‘in-the-open’ is part of their repertoire every year.
This year’s production did not disappoint and, despite the obvious difficulties with the Shakespearian language, the children thoroughly enjoyed the play and followed the story well. The theme of gang warfare appealed to them and had resonances for us today, and the fencing was particularly impressive.
The children had a lovely evening and we hope to maintain this link and take successive Year 6 pupils to see Shakespeare performed in this way. Thank you to Mr Judge (himself a huge Shakespeare fan!) for coming with us.
