Year 6 - exploring Cubist art
15th January 2021

Building on the pupils’ experience of drawing and painting portraits last term, the children created abstract portraits in the Cubist style. They were introduced to the work of Picasso and learned how he painted his subject from more than one viewpoint, using shapes, bold outlines and flat areas of colour. They also looked at some paintings by contemporary artist, Laurent Folco, and noticed Picasso’s influence on his work. The children went on to produce their own striking portraits and it was brilliant to see the variety and vibrancy of their artwork. Well done, Year 6!
