Year 6 learn about autobiographies
13th October 2017
Year 6 have been studying the features of autobiography. They read Boy by Roald Dahl and are now reading Reaching For The Moon by Buzz Aldrin. This story has provided lots of discussion about the importance of space travel and what Earth might look like from space. We will watch some clips from the space station and then the children will write a descriptive piece, imagining themselves on a space walk, during the day and also at night. Images of space and some quotes from famous astronauts will be used to turn this prose into poetry. This will form an introduction to our next unit of work - imagery poems. Please do come and look at their writing and poems, which will eventually be on the classroom wall.
