Year 6 tackle World Cup maths task

This week Year 6 have celebrated the World Cup with some football focused maths. Looking at maths based around a league table they have tackled such as explaining why when you total goal difference across a league table the answer will always be zero and trying to derive a general formula for calculating the number of teams in any knock out competition given the number of rounds (2n).
