Mrs La Farge's blog

Dear Parents

Gateway pupils and staff have come back to school with added enthusiasm and vigour after a week’s rest and relaxation. During the week off lots of staff were busy planning exciting and creative work inspired by our Take One Picture Opheus by Roelant Savery. My thanks to Mrs Mock and the Art/Tech department for their inspiration and useful pointers and suggestions about the picture. This has enabled the talented staff to put their heads together to come up with some wonderful ideas. The picture will provide the focus for much of the children's work next week and then the whole school will join together to showcase all of the work through a stunning display in the school hall on Friday 11 March. With the extra space this year I know it will be even more impressive. Further details about our 'Private View' will be sent out next week, but please add it to your diaries.

Senior boys and girls have a busy sporting few weeks ahead. The senior football and netball teams have already faced some stiff local opposition this week but played with their customary good sportsmanship and everyone enjoyed the opportunity to get involved and represent their school. Please read the sports reports below. Mr Clark has also been busy developing a really useful sporting calendar which is now available on the parent portal. Please follow this link http://gatewayschool-bucks.co.uk/parent-area/parent-login/ and sign in using the password. This calendar provides important advanced information about house and inter-school matches and I am sure it will be well received. Please feed your comments/suggestions to Mr Clark, he is very keen to improve communication with parents and to provide as much notice as possible about fixtures and events. We appreciate everyone leads busy lives.

Next Tuesday and Thursday are Open Evenings. If you haven't yet made your appointments please do contact the school office. I look forward to seeing many of you in school for these important progress meetings. Refreshments will be available in the Music Room. As a finale to next week we will be celebrating World Book Day on Friday 4 March. I know a reminder has gone out and I am sure the children already have some super ideas for their costumes. I look forward to trying to guess the characters represented!

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and I look forward to another creative Take One Picture week at Gateway.
