The Autumn Term is well underway and the children at Gateway have settled into their new classes and the teachers are getting to know them all individually, assessing their strengths and areas for development. But school life at Gateway is not only about the core curriculum, of course this is an important part, but the children are offered so much more. They have already been inundated with opportunities to enrich their learning through our broad curriculum, taught by our specialist teachers, the well planned trips and visits programme and of course our very extensive extra-curricular programme. I have been delighted to see so many of our new pupils really relishing these extra opportunities and getting involved with life at Gateway.
Our assemblies this week have focused on our ASPIRE values and particularly on the importance of STRIVE (def : make great efforts to achieve or obtain something). This is such a key value and one that we encourage in all pupils across the whole age range. This ability to persevere to achieve a goal is so important for all young people throughout their education, and in fact throughout life. So as the children bring home homework, take part in competitive sporting events, get involved in new activities please ensure you join with us to help them to continue to strive for success. We are all aiming to build a resilient, challenge- seeking child that will be able to take their learning and experiences on with them to senior school and adapt them to meet the demands of their new environments.
Let’s embrace the challenges of a new academic year and encourage all our children to continue to strive for success in their chosen goals.
