The benefits of being part of a group

Being part of Bellevue Education creates fantastic opportunities for our children and this has been particularly prevalent in recent weeks.

In March, a group of Year 6 children took part in an enrichment workshop alongside children from other Bellevue Schools. A professional journalist led the session, which was aimed at understanding how the media communicates. This enquiry-based writing workshop enabled the children to work together in a simulated news environment, actively problem solving and thinking critically. Mrs O’Hare and Mrs Kemp both attended the day and have brought back plenty of ideas to use within our English lessons. Read more about the day, here:

Also in March, children from Gateway attended the Bellevue Music Festival. This was a real opportunity to not only showcase our fantastic musical talents, but to collaborate with other schools at a lovely venue. The massed performance, with the children singing in unison was achieved through a great deal of hard work and a highlight of the evening. You can watch a video of the performances, here:

This week, we welcomed teachers from other Bellevue schools for our annual Learning Review. This peer review allows the school to benefit from advice and support from teachers across the group, sharing best practice and developing new initiatives that support the children’s learning in the classroom. Children, staff and parents were all interviewed as part of the process. The feedback from this visit has been overwhelmingly positive and the areas for further development will be incorporated into the school development plan.

The collaborative work across the schools has grown considerably over the past few years and continues to develop the learning opportunities for the children at Gateway.
