Mrs Bufton Green’s Blog - Reflection and Action

In the words of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll, “We all need to get the balance right between action and reflection. With so many distractions, it is easy to forget to pause and take stock.” This is why we start each new academic year following reflective discussions of the previous year. It is important to look back at what has worked well, what could be improved, or what could be introduced, to ensure that the offering our children at Gateway School receive, continues to meet their needs and those of the ever-changing landscape.

We are proud that we have opportunities for the whole school community to provide their feedback through mentoring, form times and committees for the children, forums, surveys and meetings for parents and regular staff discussions at INSET or weekly meetings. It is through this feedback and our commitment to keep abreast of educational developments that we formulate our priorities for the year ahead.

As highlighted at our well-received curriculum evenings this week, our three priorities for the coming year are:

Enriching a thriving and engaged community

Enhancing our school community and beyond, through an increase in purposeful interactions and events that enact change and development for the individuals and the community as a whole.

Helping children master the benefits of challenge

Supporting our pupils to grow and develop in an environment that encourages them to be resilient and embrace challenge.

Providing pupils with opportunities to aspire to be their very best, through a clear purpose, ownership and enjoyment of learning.

Embracing digital education to expand the reach of learning

Developing opportunities to further blend learning and provide personalised experiences across platforms, between home and school and amongst pupils.

Preparing pupils with a more holistic education whilst developing transferable skills for their futures.

We look forward to working with you and your children as we take steps to achieve these aims over the year.
