Welcome to the final newsletter of the term, of 2020 and, indeed, of my time as Head. Gateway is a very special place and events over the past few months are a testament to all its strengths. A school with a big heart, it will not only survive this most recent, global crisis but I know will emerge stronger and better on the other side.
Gateway children have always been at the heart of everything that we do here and I have been constantly amazed at all they achieve and the sheer enthusiasm and joy that they bring to every occasion. I have been lucky enough to share with you many amazing drama productions, music concerts, Take One Picture exhibitions, sporting successes, sports days and many other special events organised by the fantastic staff here. These, of course are over and above the many successes in the core curriculum and the creative ways in which the children are engaged in their classroom learning. What has delighted me is that each time I have demanded more from the staff and the children in any area they have always delivered. A top team!
Sadly, none of us have been able to celebrate the end of the Christmas term in quite the usual ways, but the children have celebrated in many different creative ways and have enjoyed all the activities organised for them this week. The school has managed to feel festive but stay safe.
I take great pride in all our achievements over the last seven years and the genuine, transformative benefit that the school has brought to so many children. I have very many happy memories which I will treasure. I would like to thank you all for your support, your commitment, your passion and your ambition for the school over the years, and for lending us your amazing children, who spend many happy hours here. I do hope that all Gateway families are able to enjoy Christmas as fully and safely as possible, after what has been a very challenging ten months, and most of all, I wish everyone a very happy and healthy 2021.
